Why the setting out matters
The difference between a ceiling that looks right and one that doesn't is usually decided before the first tile goes in. We set out every room so the cut tiles at opposite walls come out equal, fix the perimeter to a laser line rather than to the floor, and mark every light, cassette and detector on the grid before anything is hung.
That is also why we ask about the void. Most grid ceilings need at least around 150mm above them to fit the tiles, and ductwork or cassettes need more. Getting the finished height right on the survey avoids a ceiling that clips a window head or leaves no room for the air conditioning.

Questions people ask
What is a suspended ceiling?
A lightweight metal grid hung on wires below the structural ceiling and filled with lay-in tiles. It hides services, carries lights and air conditioning, and lets you reach everything above by lifting a tile.
How much does a suspended ceiling cost?
A standard mineral fibre ceiling in an exposed grid is typically around £28–£42 per m² supplied and fitted, ex VAT, in an open room. Acoustic, plasterboard, hygiene and metal ceilings cost more. Use the guide-price tool for your room.
Do you work outside Birmingham?
Yes. We are based in Great Barr, Birmingham and take on work across England, Scotland and Wales, grouping surveys by region.
Can you fit a ceiling while we stay open?
Yes. Evening, night and weekend fitting is normal for us in offices, shops, schools and clinics.
Who carries out the work?
Work is contracted with S&K Property Investments and Improvement Ltd, part of the S&K Group, and carried out by our installation teams and trusted subcontractors working under our supervision.
